Football has three players named to NFF Hampshire Honor Society

Belton, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor football team had three players named to the National Football Foundation's Hampshire Honor Society with the announcement of the team on Wednesday, April 27th. The Hampshire Honor Society recognizes student-athletes from all divisions of college football for academic excellence through their playing careers.

 

The three UMHB players honored by the NFF on Wednesday were Michael Carpenter, Brian Sides and Pierce "Trey" Thedford III. Carpenter was a senior running back from Bosqueville with major in social work. Sides was a senior defensive back from Graham majoring in mathematics. Thedford was a senior linebacker from Ganado majoring in exercise science. The trio combined for seven ASC All-Academic honors during their careers and also produced an All-America, All-Region and All-Conference performer while losing just one time in the regular season during their careers. The UMHB football team went 11-2 overall and won a share of the ASC Championship with a 4-1 league record in 2015. The Cru advanced to the NCAA Division III National Championships before falling to Linfield College 38-35 in the Quarterfinals.

 

To qualify for the NFF Hampshire Honor Society, student-athletes must be starting players from all Divisions of college football who are completing their final season of eligibility. Those players must maintain at least a 3.20 career grade point average and meet all NCAA mandated progress toward graduation. The NFF recognized a total of 868 players from 275 schools this year.
