Belton, TX – University of Mary Hardin-Baylor defensive back Bryson Tucker (Sr., Caldwell HS) has been named to the American Football Coaches Association’s Division III All-American Team released today. Tucker earns AFCA All-American honors for the first time in his career and he becomes the sixth Cru player to earn a spot on the AFCA All-American Team. UMHB has now had a player selected to this prestigious team eight times in the last nine seasons.

Belton, TX – University of Mary Hardin-Baylor men’s soccer player Daniel Green has been voted American Southwest Conference Men’s Soccer Distinguished Scholar-Athlete for his accomplishments on the field and in the classroom. UMHB also placed three other student-athletes on the 2009 ASC Fall Distinguished Scholar-Athlete Teams.

Belton, TX – Former University of Mary Hardin-Baylor football player Eric Henri has signed a contract with the Odessa Roughnecks of the Indoor Football League. Henri, a middle linebacker for the Cru, will likely play strong safety for the Roughnecks when the 2010 season opens in the spring.

Calgary, Alberta – Former University of Mary Hardin-Baylor football player Jerrell Freeman played for the Saskatchewan Rough Riders in the 2009 Grey Cup, the championship game of the Canadian Football League. Freeman, a rookie linebacker for the Rough Riders, played special teams as Saskatchewan fell to Montreal 28-27 on a last second field goal in the league title game. Freeman started one game at linebacker for the Rough Riders and finished the season with 40 total tackles, two fumble recoveries and a blocked punt return for a touchdown as one of Saskatchewan’s top rookies.

Softball
Brittany batted .363 and hit a home run for the Cru in the ASC First Pitch Tournament last weekend in Farmer's Branch. She drove in three runs and scored two more during the week. Her slugging percentage was .727 over the weekend.
Sterling Phillips
Men's Basketball
Sterling was named MVP of the ASC Men's Basketball Championship Tournament after leading the Cru in scoring in all three games. He helped lead the UMHB men to their second ASC Championship in the last three seasons and the Cru also earned its third trip to the NCAA Division III National Championships. Sterling also earned Honorable Mention ASC All-West Division honors this season.
