Belton, TX – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor football team placed 18 players on the American Southwest Conference All-Conference Team released today. The Cru also took two of the individual awards handed out by the ASC. Defensive end Marco Coppola was voted ASC Defensive Lineman of the Year and quarterback LiDarral Bailey was named ASC Freshman of the Year.

Belton, TX – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor football team is back in a familiar place, but the Cru is getting ready for an unfamiliar face as UMHB prepares to open the NCAA Division III National Championships this Saturday. The Cru is in the postseason for the sixth straight year and for the eighth time in the last nine seasons, but for the first time in the program’s history, UMHB will open against a program from outside the state of Texas. The Cru (9-1, 7-1 American Southwest Conference) will take on the Central (IA) Dutch in a 12:00 PM kickoff Saturday in Pella, Iowa in one of only two first-round match-ups to pair two top ten teams. UMHB is ranked 7th in the nation by D3football.com and the Cru is #9 in the country in the AFCA Top 25 Coaches Poll. Meanwhile, Central is ranked 6th nationally by D3football.com and the Dutch are #5 in the country in this week’s AFCA Top 25 Poll. Central is also making its 20th postseason appearance and the Dutch has advanced to the Stagg Bowl three times, winning the 1974 national championship.

Belton, TX – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor football team’s starting offensive line has been named to the D3football.com Team of the Week for its performance in the Cru’s 48-16 victory over Sul Ross State Saturday in Belton. OT’s Max Taylor (Jr., Lufkin HS) and Nate Menkin (So., Lago Vista HS), OG’s Myke Gobert (Sr., Cy-Ridge HS) and Ryan Krause (Jr., Medina Valley HS) and OC Dustin Davis (Jr., Harker Heights HS) cleared the way for a UMHB offense that rolled up 480 rushing yards and 632 yards of total offense in the win over the Lobos. The Cru had three rushers go over 100 yards in the game and UMHB rushed for six touchdowns. The UMHB offensive line didn’t allow a sack in 20 passing attempts.

Belton, TX – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor football team held on to the #9 spot in the nation in the final regular season American Football Coaches Association’s Top 25 Poll of the season. UMHB totaled 680 points in this week’s poll and the Cru is the highest-ranked one-loss team in the nation. Defending national champion Mount Union received 39 first-place votes and 999 total points to hold down the top spot again this week. Wisconsin-Whitewater is second with the other first-place vote and 960 total points. Central (IA) College, UMHB’s first-round opponent in the NCAA Division III National Championships, is ranked fifth this week with 807 total points.

Belton, TX – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor football team will make its sixth straight NCAA Division III National Championships appearance and its eighth in the last nine years after the Cru received an at-large bid to the postseason when the 32-team field was announced today. UMHB will open the postseason at Central (IA) College with a 12:00 AM Central Time kickoff next Saturday, November 21st. The Dutch is 10-0 overall and the season and Central won the Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference title after posting an 8-0 league record. Central will be making its 20th appearance in the NCAA Division III National Championships and the Dutch are ranked 6th in the country by D3football.com and 5th in the nation by the AFCA. This will be the first time the Cru has opened the postseason against a program from outside the state of Texas and will also mark the first game for the UMHB football program in the state of Iowa. The Cru enters the playoffs with a 9-1 overall record and UMHB went 7-1 in American Southwest Conference play, sharing the ASC title with Mississippi College.

Belton, TX – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor football team used a punishing ground game and a stifling defensive effort to control the game as the Cru rolled to a 48-16 victory over Sul Ross State in the regular season finale Saturday in Belton. UMHB improves to 9-1 overall and 7-1 in American Southwest Conference play with the victory. The Cru also clinched a share of the ASC title with the win. The loss ends the Lobos season at 2-8 overall and 2-6 in the ASC.
