Belton, TX – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor football team’s starting offensive line has earned American Southwest Conference Offensive Player of the Week honors for its performance in the Cru’s 48-16 victory over Sul Ross State Saturday in Belton. OT’s Max Taylor (Jr., Lufkin HS) and Nate Menkin (So., Lago Vista HS), OG’s Myke Gobert (Sr., Cy-Ridge HS) and Ryan Krause (Jr., Medina Valley HS) and OC Dustin Davis (Jr., Harker Heights HS) cleared the way for a UMHB offense that rolled up 480 rushing yards and 632 yards of total offense in the win over the Lobos. The Cru had three rushers go over 100 yards in the game and UMHB rushed for six touchdowns. The UMHB offensive line didn’t allow a sack in 20 passing attempts.

Belton, TX – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor football team used a punishing ground game and a stifling defensive effort to control the game as the Cru rolled to a 48-16 victory over Sul Ross State in the regular season finale Saturday in Belton. UMHB improves to 9-1 overall and 7-1 in American Southwest Conference play with the victory. The Cru also clinched a share of the ASC title with the win. The loss ends the Lobos season at 2-8 overall and 2-6 in the ASC.

Belton, TX – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor football team will close out the 2009 regular season at home this Saturday with a 1:00 PM kickoff against Sul Ross State University. The Cru will enter the game with an 8-1 overall record and a 6-1 mark in American Southwest Conference play. UMHB can clinch at least a share of the ASC Championship with a victory and the Cru also needs a win to keep its hopes alive for a berth in the NCAA Division III National Championships. Sul Ross State will enter the game with a 2-7 overall record and a 2-5 mark in the ASC. UMHB should have head coach Pete Fredenburg back on the sidelines after he missed last week’s game under doctor ordered rest. The game will also be marked by Military Appreciation festivities at Tiger Field.

Belton, TX – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor football team held its ground in both major national polls this week. The Cru held steady at #9 in the country in the American Football Coaches Association’s Top 25 Poll this week. The Cru totaled 656 total points this week, a gain of four points over last week’s total. UMHB is coming off a 45-7 victory over Howard Payne University last Saturday in Brownwood. Defending national champion Mount Union holds down the top spot once again with 39 first-place votes and 999 total points. Wisconsin-Whitewater is second with the other first-place vote and 961 total points.

Belton, TX – University of Mary Hardin-Baylor football player Brett Parker has been named American Southwest Conference Co-Defensive Player of the Week for his performance in UMHB’s 45-7 victory over Howard Payne University on Saturday. Parker, a senior cornerback from Richmond Foster High School, intercepted a pair of passes and broke up another in the Cru’s victory. He also added a sack, two tackles for loss and four total tackles to lead a UMHB defense that held the Yellow Jackets to just 211 passing yards and 206 yards of total offense. Parker shares this week’s honor with Hardin-Simmons defensive back Jonathan Wise.

Camryn Powell
Women's Soccer

Camryn earned ASC Co-Defensive Freshman of the Year honors when the ASC All-Conference Team was released. She was one of the top defenders for a Cru team that posted eight shutouts on the season. Camryn also added an assist this season.

Marco Coppola
Football
Marco was named ASC Defensive Lineman of the Year when the ASC All-Conference Team was released today. He leads the Cru with 5.0 sacks on the season and won conference honors despite missing the last four games of the regular season with an injury.
