Belton, TX – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor baseball team placed a total of six players on the American Southwest Conference All-West Division Teams released today. UMHB had four First Team All-West selections and a pair of Honorable Mention All-West choices.
Outfielder
Joseph Villegas, starting pitcher
Jared Hopper, utility player
Chris Joshlin and third baseman
Josh Fredrick were all voted to the All-West Division First Team. Villegas, a senior from Hays High School, was the leading vote-getter among all outfielders. He batted .420 with two home runs and 36 RBI this season. Villegas also stole 18 bases, led the Cru with 12 doubles and six triples and walked 28 times for an on-base percentage of .500 on the year. He set UMHB career records in almost every category and broke the ASC marks for career batting average and career triples this season. Hopper, a junior from Northeast Christian High School, led UMHB with a 7-3 record and a 3.71 ERA. He struck out a team-best 78 batters in 80 innings and threw five complete games and a pair of shutouts. Hopper also broke the UMHB career strikeout record this season. Joshlin, a sophomore from Rogers High School, batted .380 with two home runs and 31 RBI as he split the season between catcher and designated hitter. Joshlin also had nine doubles and a triple and scored 26 runs. Fredrick, a sophomore from Troy High School, batted .335 with four home runs and 32 RBI. He scored 30 runs and added seven doubles and four triples.

Ryan Moreau earned Honorable Mention All-West Division honors. White, a senior from Cy-Creek High School, batted .344 and led the Cru with seven home runs and 44 RBI. He added 11 doubles, four triples and 15 stolen bases and scored a team-high 41 runs. Moreau, a senior from Baytown Christian High School, batted .307 with two home runs and 22 RBI.
McMurry outfielder Jake Mullin was named ASC West Division Player of the Year and Texas Lutheran pitcher Brad Orosey was named West Division Pitcher of the Year. Hardin-Simmons outfielder LeJuan Edwards was voted Newcomer of the Year, Sul Ross second baseman Brennyn Smith was named Freshman of the Year, HSU pitcher Sam Walker was voted Sportsmanship Athlete of the Year and the Sul Ross State coaching staff was named West Division Coaching Staff of the Year.
The Cru finished 22-19 overall and 13-8 in ASC West Division play this season. UMHB tied for second in the ASC West and advanced to the ASC Championship Tournament for the fourth straight year before falling to Mississippi College in a first-round series. Villegas is a four-time All-West Division selection and this is the third All-West Division honor for White. Fredrick, Hopper and Moreau are two-time All-West Division honorees and this is the first All-West Division selection for Joshlin. There is no All-Conference team selected for baseball, the ASC baseball awards stop at the All-Division level.
