Belton, TX – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor football team will face a brand new opponent and the Cru will only play four home games in the 2010 season. The Cru released its 2010 varsity schedule today.
UMHB will kick off the 2010 season with back-to-back road games, including the season opener at brand new foe Wisconsin-La Crosse on September 11th. The Cru will open American Southwest Conference play the following week with a 6:00 PM game at McMurry University on September 18th. UMHB will face Hardin-Simmons University in the first home game of the season on September 25th. It will be the earliest in the season those two rivals have met and will also be the first night game in the history of the rivalry. The winner of the UMHB-HSU game has gone on to win at least a share of every ASC championship since the first meeting in 1998. The Cru will also play home games against Mississippi College, Howard Payne University and Texas Lutheran University. The remaining road schedule includes games at Louisiana College, Southern Oregon University, East Texas Baptist University and Sul Ross State University. This will mark the first time in the 13-year history of the program for the Cru to play an uneven schedule with six road games and just four home contests.
The Cru finished the 2009 season with a 10-2 overall record and a 7-1 mark in ASC play. UMHB shared the ASC title with Mississippi College and the Cru advanced to the NCAA Division III National Championships for the sixth straight season. The Cru advanced to the second round of the postseason before falling to Linfield College. UMHB has won at least a share of five straight ASC titles and seven of the last eight. Season tickets for the 2010 UMHB football season will go on sale in August.
