Women's basketball places seven on All-West Division Team

Belton, TX – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor women's basketball team placed seven players on the American Southwest Conference All-West Division Teams and All-Conference Team released today. The Cru women also had the ASC West Division Defensive Player of the Year and Coach of the Year in Jessica Kelly and Kim Kirkpatrick-Thornton respectively.
            Kelly earned West Division Defensive Player of the Year honors after 25 steals and 10 blocked shots and leading a UMHB defense that held opponents to a West Division low 57.4 points per game. Kelly also averaged 7.4 points and 4.1 rebounds and she dished off 58 assists to also earn Honorable Mention All-West Division honors and a spot on the West Division All-Defensive Team.

            Kallie White was voted to the All-Conference Team and also claimed a spot on the All-West Division First Team. White, a senior guard/forward from Llano High School, averaged 11.0 points per game and also grabbed 3.9 rebounds per contest. She shot 51 per cent from the field and 45 per cent from three-point range while adding 38 assists and 32 steals.

            Lindsay Eaton joined White on the All-West Division First Team. Eaton, a junior forward from Lake Travis High School, led UMHB in scoring at 11.1 points per game and she also grabbed a team-best 5.9 rebounds per game. Eaton added 52 assists and 25 steals.

            Kellie Thomas was voted to the All-West Division Second Team. Thomas, a senior forward from New Braunfels High School, averaged 8.0 points and 4.0 rebounds per game. She also led the Cru with 30 blocked shots and added 21 assists and 18 steals.

            Caitlin Barganier and Stacie Stephens joined Kelly on the Honorable Mention All-West squad. Bargainer, a junior guard from Academy High School, averaged 6.5 points and 3.4 rebounds per game. She also had a team-high 78 assists. Stephens, a junior forward from Brentwood Christian High School, averaged 6.5 points and 3.4 rebounds per game. She also led the ASC in three-point field goal percentage at 48.6 per cent.

            Mallory McAdams joined Kelly on the West Division All-Defensive Team. McAdams had 37 steals and five blocked shots despite missing eight games with a shoulder injury. She also added 5.5 points and 3.1 rebounds per game and was second on the team with 64 assists.

            Kirkpatrick-Thornton led the Cru women to a 21-6 overall record and a 17-4 mark in ASC West Division play. The Cru women won the ASC West Division for the first time in school history and advanced to the semifinals of the ASC Championship Tournament before falling to McMurry University 49-47. This is the first ASC West Division Coach of the Year honor for Kirkpatrick-Thornton.

         This is the second ASC All-West Division honor for Thomas, McAdams and White. Kelly, Stephens and Eaton are first time All-West Division selections, but Eaton did earn All-East Division honors twice while she played at U.T.-Tyler.
