Belton, TX – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor women’s basketball team has been awarded the 2009-2010 American Southwest Conference Student-Athlete Advisory Committee Team Sportsmanship Award. The UMHB women shared the ASC West Division honor with Sul Ross State University while the University of the Ozarks women’s team took ASC East Division honors.
The award, in its third academic year, honors the member institution in each ASC championship sport that best displays positive qualities of sportsmanship and fair play from its student-athletes, coaches and fans throughout the season. The Student-Athlete Advisory Committees (SAACs) from the conference’s 15 member institutions vote on the recipients.

The UMHB women are two-time winners of the ASC SAAC Sportsmanship Award, claiming the honor for the first time following the 2007-2008 season. The Cru women also joined the UMHB men’s soccer and volleyball teams as Sportsmanship Award winners this school year.

The Cru women also won the ASC West Division title for the first time in school history this season. The UMHB women advanced to the ASC Tournament semifinals before falling to McMurry University.
