Basketball teams place six on ASC Academic All-Conference Team

Belton, TX – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor men’s and women’s basketball teams combined to place six players on the American Southwest Conference Academic All-Conference Team. The Cru men and women had three players apiece named to the Academic honor squad.
            Mallory McAdams is a senior guard from Robinson High School and she is completing work on her Master’s of Education. Kellie Thomas is a senior forward and Exercise and Sport Science major from New Braunfels High School. Kallie White is a senior forward and Biology major from Llano High School.

            Zane Johnston is a senior guard and Exercise and Sport Science major from Albany High School. Mark Jones is a sophomore guard and Computer Graphics Design major from Mineral Wells High School. Greg Wiernas is a sophomore forward and accounting major from Arlington Martin High School.

            McAdams, Thomas, White and Johnston are all three-time ASC Academic All-Conference selections. This is the first Academic All-Conference honor for Jones and Wiernas.

            To be eligible for Academic All-Conference, a student-athlete must be a sophomore, junior or senior, be in at least the second academic year at their institution and carry a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or better.

Thomas Orr
Men's Basketball
Thomas hit a pair of clutch free throws with 2.1 seconds left in overtime to give the Cru a 75-73 victory over Hardin-Simmons last week. He averaged 13.0 points per game and added a season-high 15 points to keep UMHB in the game in a narrow 75-71 loss to McMurry University.
Miranda Shorter
Women's Basketball
Miranda averaged 9.5 points per game over two contests last weekend. She is one of just three seniors on this year's team. Miranda has started 16 of the Cru's 17 games and she currently ranks third on the team in scoring.
