Belton, TX – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor women's basketball team was left out of the 64-team field for the NCAA Division III National Championships when the bracket was announced this morning. The Cru women were hoping for one of the 21 at-large bids to the NCAA Tournament, but the South Region received just one of those Pool C bids to the tournament.
American Southwest Conference champion Louisiana College was the only team from the conference to advance to the tournament. The Wildcats (24-2) will play against George Fox University on Friday in Newberg, Oregon.
The Cru women went 21-6 overall and won the ASC West Division with a 17-4 league mark. UMHB advanced to the semifinals of the ASC Championship Tournament before falling to McMurry University 49-47 on Saturday. The UMHB women were ranked fourth in the South Region in the final regular season regional rankings.
