Parker picked off two passes and broke up another in Cru victory over HPU
Belton, TX – University of Mary Hardin-Baylor football player Brett Parker has been named American Southwest Conference Co-Defensive Player of the Week for his performance in UMHB’s 45-7 victory over Howard Payne University on Saturday. Parker, a senior cornerback from Richmond Foster High School, intercepted a pair of passes and broke up another in the Cru’s victory. He also added a sack, two tackles for loss and four total tackles to lead a UMHB defense that held the Yellow Jackets to just 211 passing yards and 206 yards of total offense. Parker shares this week’s honor with Hardin-Simmons defensive back Jonathan Wise.
The Cru is currently 8-1 overall and 6-1 in ASC play. UMHB will close out the regular season with a 1:00 PM home game against Sul Ross State this Saturday at Tiger Field. A Cru victory would clinch at least a share of the ASC title for the fifth straight year and the seventh time in the last eight years for UMHB.
