Belton, TX – University of Mary Hardin-Baylor football players Bryson Tucker and Jerrad Jefferson have both been named to this week’s D3football.com Team of the Week for their performances in the Cru’s 21-0 victory over Southern Oregon University last Saturday.
Tucker, a senior defensive back/running back from Caldwell High School, ran for 218 yards and a pair of touchdowns on 24 carries in his first action of the season at running back. Tucker’s 218-yard day is the fourth-best single-game rushing performance in school history and he also added a career-long, 90-yard touchdown run. That is the third longest rushing play in school history. Tucker also played defensive back in the Cru’s nickel package and added a tackle in the victory.

Jefferson, a sophomore linebacker from Waller High School, recorded a team-high 14 tackles to lead the Cru defense. He also broke up a pass for a UMHB defense that held Southern Oregon to just 196 yards of total offense and forced five turnovers in the shutout.

The Cru is currently 6-1 overall and has a 4-1 mark in American Southwest Conference play. UMHB will return to ASC play with a 1:00 PM home game against East Texas Baptist University (2-6, 2-4 ASC) this Saturday.
