Tennis teams place three players on Academic All-Conference Team
Women have one choice, men place two on squad

Belton, TX— The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor men’s and women’s tennis teams combined to place three players on the American Southwest Conference Spring All-Conference Team, released today. To be eligible for the ASC Academic All-Conference Team, a player must be a sophomore, junior or senior and have attended the school for a full year. The student-athlete must also earn a letter and maintain at least a 3.00 cumulative GPA.
            Rebecca Everett is a junior exercise and sport science major from Breckenridge High School. Garrett Pekar is a sophomore mass communications major from Granger High School. Joshua Pownall is a sophomore sport management major from Bryan High School. This is the second ASC Academic All-Conference honor for Everett and the first Academic All-Conference selection for Pekar and Pownall.

            The UMHB women’s tennis team went 12-6 overall this spring and 5-1 in ASC West Division play. The Cru women advanced to the semifinals of the ASC Championship Tournament before falling to eventual conference champion U.T.-Tyler. The UMHB men finished with a 9-6 overall record and a 4-2 mark in the ASC West Division. The Cru men also advanced to the ASC Championship Tournament before falling to LeTourneau University in the first round.

Athletes of the Week
Thomas Orr
Men's Basketball
Thomas hit a pair of clutch free throws with 2.1 seconds left in overtime to give the Cru a 75-73 victory over Hardin-Simmons last week. He averaged 13.0 points per game and added a season-high 15 points to keep UMHB in the game in a narrow 75-71 loss to McMurry University.
Miranda Shorter
Women's Basketball
Miranda averaged 9.5 points per game over two contests last weekend. She is one of just three seniors on this year's team. Miranda has started 16 of the Cru's 17 games and she currently ranks third on the team in scoring.
