Tyler, TX – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor men's and women's tennis teams have both clinched bids to the American Southwest Conference Championship Tournament and the Cru men and women will both open postseason play Friday in Tyler. The ASC Tournament will run from Friday through Sunday at the Summers Tennis Center and will be hosted by the University of Texas at Tyler.
            The Cru women are in the ASC Tournament for the third straight year and earned the #2 seed from the West Division after finishing 11-5 overall and 5-1 in ASC West Division play. The UMHB women will open the tournament with an 11:00 AM first-round match against East Division #3 seed U.T.-Dallas (6-7) on Friday. The Cru women topped the Comets 7-1 in the regular season finale last Saturday in Belton in the only regular season meeting between the two teams. The UMHB-UTD winner will advance to face East Division #1 seed and tournament host U.T.-Tyler (14-3) in an 11:00 semifinal on Saturday. Mississippi College (9-6) will take on McMurry University (9-7) in an 8:30 first-round match on Friday with the winner advancing to face Hardin-Simmons University (10-5) in an 8:30 AM semifinal on Saturday. The two semifinal winners will face off in the ASC Championship Match at 1:00 PM on Sunday with the tournament champion claiming the ASC's automatic bid to the NCAA Division III National Championships.

            The UMHB men are advancing to the ASC Tournament for the first time since 2007 and the Cru men will also be the #2 seed from the West Division after posting a 9-5 overall record and a 4-2 mark in ASC West Division play. The UMHB men will open the tournament with a 4:00 PM first-round match against East Division #3 seed LeTourneau University (20-2) on Friday. The Yellow Jackets topped the Cru twice during the regular season, posting a 7-2 victory in Longview and a 5-4 win over the Cru in Belton. The UMHB-LeTourneau winner will advance to face East Division #1 seed and tournament host U.T.-Tyler (11-6) in a 4:00 PM semifinal on Sunday. Mississippi College (11-4) will face Howard Payne University (7-9) in a 1:30 PM first-round match on Friday with the winner advancing to take on McMurry University (12-6) in a 1:30 PM semifinal on Saturday. The two semifinal winners will meet in the ASC Championship Match 30 minutes after completion of the women's championship match on Sunday with the conference title and the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Division III National Championships on the line.
