Women's golf moves to 11th place at Jekyll Island Invitational
Allison Williams is in 47th place individually
Cru women shoot second round 352 today
Jekyll Island, GA – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor women’s golf team fired a 352 team total, but the Cru women dropped three spots in the standings and UMHB sits in 11th place after two rounds of the Jekyll Island Invitational. The Cru women have a 341-352=693 team score and fell from a tie for eighth place after yesterday’s opening round. Methodist University has the overall lead with a 315-319=634 and the Monarchs are 19 strokes ahead of second place Illinois Wesleyan (324-329=653). Birmingham Southern is in third place with a 328-336=664, Seminole State is fourth with a 335-331=666 and Berry College rounds out the top five with a 333-337=670. Otterbein College holds down sixth place after shooting 340-334=674, Southwestern University moved into seventh place with a 341-334=675, Centre College is in eighth place after carding a 338-346=684 and Allegheny College (350-341) and Carleton College (349-342) are tied for ninth place with 691’s, two strokes ahead of the Cru. Rhodes College (360-336=696) is in 12th place, Mount Holyoke fired a 355-354=709 for 13th place, St. Benedict is 14th at 356-354=710 and Piedmont College claims 15th place at 356-359=715. Wisconsin-Whitewater is in 16th place after firing a 371-363=734, Huntingdon College (377-377) and Trinity University (372-382) are tied for 17th place with 754’s, Franklin and Marshall posted a 398-382=780 for 19th place, Maryville is in 20th place with a 402-396=798, Transylvania is 21st at 417-388=805, St. John Fisher holds down 22nd place with a 427-394=821 and Nebraska Wesleyan is in 23rd place with a 417-410=827. The tournament is being played on a par-72, 5,819-yad layout at Indian Mound Golf Course in Jekyll Island, Georgia.
            Christi Williams has the top individual showing for the Cru women. Williams has posted an 81-81=162 and she is tied for 14th place. Allison Williams fired an 87-88=175 for the Cru and she is tied for 47th place, Alexandra Taylor posted a 90-86=176 and she is tied for 50th place, Catherine Andrews is tied for 55th place after shooting 88-89=177, Courtney Nelson is tied for 66th place with an 85-94=179 and Mallory McAdams is in a tie for 101st place with a 105-95=200. Callie Bennett of Berry College has the overall individual lead with a 79-76=155.

            The three-day, 54-hole event will wrap up with tomorrow’s final round. The Cru will begin teeing off at 9:10 AM Eastern Time.

Athletes of the Week
Max Taylor
Football
Max has been named of 112 finalists for the Allstate AFCA Good Works Team. He has helped organize the UMHB Sole 2 Soul campaign each of the past two years. That campaign has helped raise nearly $3,300 and four boxes of shoes for donation to orphans in Haiti. Max is also a Preseason All-American and one of the team leaders for the Cru football program on and off the field.
Sara Hayward
Women's Volleyball
Sara has been elected to serve as President of the UMHB Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. The junior is also a standout on the court for the Cru volleyball team and she will be counted on to serve as a team leader in addition to her duties as SAAC President.
