Belton, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor women's tennis team placed seven players on the American Southwest Conference All-Conference and All-Division Teams released today. Cru senior
Brittni Fausett was also voted ASC West Division Newcomer of the Year and head coach
James Cohagan earned West Division Coach of the Year honors. In all, the Cru women had three First Team All-West Division singles selections and two doubles teams named First Team All-West Division. UMHB also placed three singles players and a doubles team on the ASC All-West Division Second Team.
Fausett, a senior from Cameron Yoe High School, was voted West Division Newcomer of the Year after posting a 9-1 dual match record in singles play this spring. She also qualified for the ITA Small College National Championships in the fall and finished third in the country in that event. Fausett was also voted to the All-West Division Second Team at #1 singles.
AshLee Bilbo was voted to the All-West Division First Team at #3 singles. Bilbo, a junior from Bryan High School, went 7-4 in dual match singles play this spring.
Hannah Warren was voted First Team All-West Division at #4 singles. Warren, a freshman from The Woodlands High School, recorded an 8-3 record for the Cru this spring.
Tawnie Yeaw took First Team All-West Division honors at #6 singles. Yeaw, a freshman from Calvary Chapel High School in Foothill Ranch, California, went 5-2 in dual match play this spring.
Bilbo and Fausett also claimed First Team All-West Division honors at #1 doubles. The duo recorded a 9-0 mark as the Cru's #1 doubles team in the spring.
Chaley Shiffler and
Angelie Juaneza also earned First Team All-West Division honors at #3 doubles. The pair posted a 3-0 doubles record for UMHB in the spring.
Shiffler and Juaneza also joined Fausett on the All-West Division Second Team in singles play. Shiffler, a junior from Katy Morton Ranch High School, was Second Team All-West at #2 singles. She was 6-4 in that position for UMHB this spring. Juaneza, a sophomore from Katy Morton Ranch, went 6-4 to claim Second Team All-West honors at #5 singles.
The doubles team of
Hannah Warren and
Elizabeth Ostroff also took All-West Division Second Team honors at #2 doubles. Warren and Ostroff, a freshman from College Park High School, posted a 2-0 record for the Cru at that position this spring
James Cohagan was voted West Division Women's Tennis Coach of the Year after also winning West Division Men's Tennis Coach of the Year honors. He guided the Cru women to their second West Division title in the last three years. The Cru finished 8-3 overall and went 5-0 in ASC West Division play. The UMHB women advanced to the ASC Tournament for the sixth straight year before falling to U.T.-Tyler in the Semifinals.
Texas Lutheran's Sofia Vega was named West Division Most Valuable Player and West Division Freshman of the Year. Schreiner's Kelley Spahn was voted West Division Sportsmanship Athlete of the Year.
