Men's Tennis closes out play at ASC Individual Tournament

Tyler, TX – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor men's tennis team closed out play at the American Southwest Conference Individual Tournament late Saturday night in Tyler.

In flight one singles, Will Summers went 1-1 overall, falling in the second round to top seed Ryan Ybarra of U.T.-Tyler. Jacob Stamps posted a 1-1 record in flight two singles, falling to #2 seed Bishop Bass of University of the Ozarks in the second round. John Martin fell in the first round of the flight three main draw and then went 1-1 in the consolation bracket, falling in the semifinals. Jimmy Turner also went 1-1 in flight four singles, falling to the #2 seed in the second round. Tevin Ogo matched that 1-1 record in flight five singles, falling in the second round to the #1 seed. Hunter Voyles followed the trend, posting a 1-1 record in flight six singles. In flight seven, T.J. Kitrell fell in the main draw opening round, but advanced to the semifinals of the consolation bracket before falling to Nathan West of Schreiner University in three sets. John Contreras would win the flight eight consolation bracket, going 2-0 after falling in the first round of the main draw. Leslie Coleman went 0-2 for the Cru in flight nine singles.

In doubles action, Summers and Martin advanced to the second round of flight one before falling to the #2 seeded team. Ogo and Voyles fell in the opening round of flight two singles. Stamps and Kitrell combined to advance to the semifinals of flight three before falling to the #1 seed. Contreras and Turner fell in the opening round of flight for doubles.

The Cru men will play their final tournament of the fall with the ITA Southwest Regional Tournament. That tournament will be played September 28-30 in Tyler.
