Belton, TX – Three University of Mary Hardin-Baylor football players have earned Preseason All-American status on teams released so far this summer. The players have been recognized on Preseason All-American teams released by Lindy’s Magazine, Sporting News Magazine, D3football.com and Consensus Draft Services.
Offensive center Dustin Davis has been named First Team Preseason All-American by Sporting News Magazine and earned Second Team Preseason All-American honors from both Lindy’s Magazine and Consensus Draft Services. Davis, a senior from Harker Heights High School, was a Third Team All-American, a First Team All-South Region selection and was also voted American Southwest Conference First Team All-Conference last season. He was the highest grading offensive linemen for one of the nation’s top rushing attacks last season.
Offensive tackle Max Taylor has been named Second Team Preseason All-American by both D3football.com and Lindy’s Magazine. Taylor, a senior from Lufkin High School, was a First Team All-South Region selection last season and he also earned ASC First Team All-Conference honors as one of the Cru’s highest-grading offensive linemen.
Running back Quincy Daniels has been named Second Team Preseason All-American by D3football.com. Daniels, a senior from Belton High School, was a Second Team All-South Region selection last season and also earned ASC First Team All-Conference honors. He also earned ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District VI First Team honors and was one of ten Texas college football players awarded the National Football Foundation’s Scholar-Athlete Award. Daniels ran for 982 yards and 14 touchdowns despite missing two full games last season.
The Cru finished the 2009 season with a 10-2 overall record and shared the ASC championship after posting a 7-1 league record. UMHB will open the 2010 season with a 1:00 PM kickoff at Wisconsin-La Crosse on September 11th.
