Men's tennis places seven on All-West Division Team

Belton, TX – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor placed seven players on the American Southwest Conference All-West Division Teams released today. The Cru had two First Team All-West Division honorees, three Second Team All-West Division selections and a pair of Honorable Mention All-West Division picks.
            The doubles team of Ramon Aguirre and Alex Graham earned First Team All-West Division Honors at #2 doubles. Aguirre, a senior from Abilene High School, and Graham, a junior from Deer Park High School, paired for a 10-5 mark at #2 doubles for the Cru this season.

            Will Summers, a freshman from Belton High School, earned Second Team All-West Division honors at #3 singles. Summers posted an 8-6 mark in that position. Summers also teamed with Mitch Hallum, a junior from Belton High School, to take Honorable Mention All-West Division honors at #3 doubles. The duo compiled an 8-6 record at #3 doubles on the year.

            Josh Pownall and Daniel White also earned Second Team All-West Division honors at #1 doubles. Pownall, a sophomore from Bryan High School, and White, a junior from Georgetown High School, went 12-3 at #1 doubles and posted the best doubles mark on the team. Pownall also earned Honorable Mention All-West Division Honors at #2 singles after compiling a team-best 10-5 record for the Cru this season.

            Garrett Pekar, a sophomore from Granger High School, was also voted Honorable Mention All-West Division at #5 singles. Pekar posted an 8-6 mark at #5 singles on the year for UMHB.

            This is the second All-West Division selection for Aguirre, Pownall and Pekar. Summers, Graham, Hallum and White are making their first appearances on the ASC All-West Division Teams.

            The UMHB men went 9-6 overall and 4-2 in ASC West Division play this spring. The Cru men advanced to the ASC Championship Tournament for the first time since 2007 and fell to LeTourneau University 5-2 in the quarterfinals of the ASC Tournament.
