Women's basketball to host summer skills camp

Belton, TX—The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor will host three summer girl’s basketball camps for children in 3rd through 12th grades (grade student will enter this fall) this summer. UMHB head women’s basketball coach Kim Kirkpatrick-Thornton will conduct the camps. A staff of area high school coaches and a group of UMHB collegiate players will assist Coach Kirkpatrick-Thornton during the camp. All of the camp sessions will be held at the Mayborn Campus Center on the UMHB campus.
            The Cru Girl’s Basketball Camp will emphasize the fundamentals of basketball and each of the positions on the court. During the week, players will receive detailed instruction in a challenging, unique environment that promises to be a rewarding basketball experience.

            The cost of any of the camp sessions is $90 per student. Registration forms are available in the UMHB athletic office. For more information, please call Coach Kim Kirkpatrick-Thornton at (254) 295-4240.

Thomas Orr
Men's Basketball
Thomas hit a pair of clutch free throws with 2.1 seconds left in overtime to give the Cru a 75-73 victory over Hardin-Simmons last week. He averaged 13.0 points per game and added a season-high 15 points to keep UMHB in the game in a narrow 75-71 loss to McMurry University.
Miranda Shorter
Women's Basketball
Miranda averaged 9.5 points per game over two contests last weekend. She is one of just three seniors on this year's team. Miranda has started 16 of the Cru's 17 games and she currently ranks third on the team in scoring.
