Belton, TX – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor women’s basketball team dominated the first half and then never let McMurry University back into the game as the Cru rolled to a 74-60 victory Thursday night in Belton. The UMHB women improve to 16-4 overall and 13-3 in American Southwest Conference play and the Cru women have now won 12 straight games. The loss drops McMurry to 12-8 overall and 9-7 in the ASC on the year.
The only tie of the game would come at 2-2 and it would only be a 13-11 UMHB lead with 13:49 remaining in the first half. But the Cru would score the next four points to open the lead up to six points and UMHB would hold a 46-29 edge at halftime. The Cru then held off every McMurry attempt to get back into the game and led by as least 12 points the rest of the way.

Kallie White scored a season-high 24 points to lead the Cru and she had 21 of those points in the first half. Lindsay Eaton added 17 points and a game-high seven rebounds for UMHB. Stacie Stephens also reached double figures with 10 points and three other players had seven points apiece for the Cru. Anna Berthel and Rikeita Thomas had 13 points each for McMurry and Amanda Peters added 10 points.

The Cru shot 48 per cent from the field in the game and went 5-10 from three-point range. UMHB also out rebounded McMurry 39-33 and held them to just 35 per cent shooting from the field.

UMHB will continue its home stand with a 1:00 PM tip-off against Hardin-Simmons University this Saturday. The Cru will then close out regular season home play with a 5:30 PM start against Texas Lutheran University next Thursday at the Mayborn Campus Center. UMHB will then close out the regular season with three straight road games.
