Softball to host winter skills camp

Belton, TX – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor will host a winter softball camp this winter for softball players ages 13-18. The one-day camp will be held on Saturday, January 16, 2010 at Dee Dillon Field on the UMHB campus and runs from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Cost of the camp is $30 and registration runs through January 13th. There will be a late registration on January 14th for an additional $5 fee. Check-in for the game will be 30 minutes prior to the start of the camp.
            
            The Cru Winter Softball Camp will focus on advanced offensive and defensive drills. The camp is open to players of all skill levels. UMHB head coach Kasey Blomquist will conduct the camp with assistant from Cru assistant coach Denise Lira and current college softball players.
            Players will need to provide their own glove, bat, shoes and catcher’s gear. Everything else will be provided.

Athletes of the Week
Miranda Shorter
Women's Basketball
Miranda averaged 9.5 points per game over two contests last weekend. She is one of just three seniors on this year's team. Miranda has started 16 of the Cru's 17 games and she currently ranks third on the team in scoring.
Thomas Orr
Men's Basketball
Thomas hit a pair of clutch free throws with 2.1 seconds left in overtime to give the Cru a 75-73 victory over Hardin-Simmons last week. He averaged 13.0 points per game and added a season-high 15 points to keep UMHB in the game in a narrow 75-71 loss to McMurry University.
