Belton, TX – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor football team will hit the road for the final time this regular season when the Cru travels to Brownwood this Saturday to take on Howard Payne University in a crucial American Southwest Conference showdown. UMHB is 7-1 overall and 5-1 in ASC play on the season and the Cru is now tied for first place in the ASC with Mississippi College. The Cru needs to continue winning to have a shot at an at-large bid to the NCAA Division III National Championships. The Yellow Jackets (4-4, 2-4 ASC) are flying high after a 38-24 upset victory over Mississippi College that knocked the Choctaws into a tie for first place with UMHB. The Cru can also clinch a share of the ASC championship with two more victories.

Belton, TX – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor football team placed two players on the ESPN The Magazine College Division Academic All-District VI Team released by CoSIDA today. Quincy Daniels and Lee Munn represent the Cru on the Academic honor team and both players will now move on to the Academic All-American ballot.

Belton, TX – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor football team climbed three spots and re-entered the nation’s top 10 in the American Football Coaches Association’s Top 25 Poll this week. The Cru moved up to #9 in the nation with 652 total points after beating East Texas Baptist University 52-10 last Saturday in Belton. Defending national champion Mount Union picked up 39 first-place votes and holds down the top spot with 999 total points. Wisconsin-Whitewater took the other first-place vote and 961 total points and the Warhawks are #2 in the country. UMHB is the only American Southwest Conference program ranked in this week’s AFCA Top 25, as Mississippi College fell out of the top 25 in the wake of Saturday’s 38-24 loss to Howard Payne.

RICHARDSON, Texas –– The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor went 11-2 in league play to become regular season champions for the first time in program history and also earned the right to host the 2009 American Southwest Conference Men’s Soccer Championship Tournament on Nov. 6-8 at Cru Sports Plex in Belton, Texas.

Bryson Tucker
Football
Bryson ran for a career-high 218 yards and a pair of touchdowns on 24 carries in his first action of the season at running back in UMHB's 21-0 victory over Southern Oregon University. He scored one of those touchdowns on a career-long 90-yard run. The 218 yards are the fourth-best single-game total in school history and the 90-yard run is the third longest in school history.

Women's Soccer
Lexy is ASC Co-Offensive Player of the Week for this week. She posted her first hat trick of the season in an 8-0 victory over McMurry University last weekend. That victory clinched an ASC Championship Tournament berth for the UMHB women. The hat trick was just the fourth of the season in ASC Women's Soccer this year.
