Abilene, TX – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor women’s soccer team fell behind early and could not climb out of that early hole as the Cru women fell to Hardin-Simmons 5-0 in the semifinals of the American Southwest Conference Championship Tournament Saturday in Abilene. The loss ends UMHB’s season with a 12-6 record. Hardin-Simmons improves to 17-1 on the season and the Cowgirls advance to tomorrow’s championship match.

Belton, TX – The University of the Ozarks mounted a furious second-half comeback and then put the game away on penalty kicks as the Eagles eliminated Mississippi College by a 3-1 edge on penalty kicks in an American Southwest Conference Men’s Soccer Championship Tournament first round game Friday in Belton. The two teams were tied 3-3 after a pair of overtimes to send the game to penalty kicks.

Belton, TX – Schreiner University scored a quick first half goal and the Mountaineers would add a pair of second-half goals for insurance and Schreiner eliminated Howard Payne with a 3-0 victory over the Yellow Jackets in the opening match of the American Southwest Conference Men’s Soccer Championship Tournament Friday in Belton. Schreiner improves to 9-6-3 on the season with the victory. The loss ends the Yellow Jackets season at 9-8-1.

Abilene, TX – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor women’s soccer team used a timely goal from Erin Salyer and a solid defensive effort to post a 1-0 victory over East Texas Baptist in the opening round of the American Southwest Conference Championship Tournament Friday in Abilene. The UMHB women improve to 12-5 on the season with the victory and the Cru women posted the first ASC Tournament win in the history of the program. The loss ends ETBU’s season at 10-7 overall.

The Cru is 11-5-0 overall and 10-3-0 in ASC play and the UMHB women set a new school single-season record for overall victories and conference wins. The Cru is the #4 seed in the tournament and will face #5 seed East Texas Baptist University (10-6-0, 9-3-0 ASC) in today’s first round at 11:00 AM. The winner of that game will advance to tomorrow’s semifinals to face tournament host and #1 seed Hardin-Simmons University (16-1-0, 12-0-0 ASC) in an 11:00 AM match. UMHB beat East Texas Baptist University 3-0 in the regular season meeting between these two teams back in September in Belton. Belton, TX – The American Southwest Conference Men’s Soccer Championship Tournament opens play in Belton today with a pair of first round matches. Schreiner University and Howard Payne University will meet in the day’s first match at 11:00 AM with the winner moving on to face tournament host and #1 seed UMHB in an 11:00 AM semifinal tomorrow. University of the Ozarks will face Mississippi College in the second game of the day at 2:00 PM today. The winner of the match will advance to face #2 seed Hardin-Simmons University in a 2:00 PM semifinal tomorrow. The semifinal winners will square off in the Championship Match at 1:00 PM on Sunday with the league’s automatic berth in the NCAA Division III National Championships on the line. Belton, TX – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor football team will hit the road for the final time this regular season when the Cru travels to Brownwood this Saturday to take on Howard Payne University in a crucial American Southwest Conference showdown. UMHB is 7-1 overall and 5-1 in ASC play on the season and the Cru is now tied for first place in the ASC with Mississippi College. The Cru needs to continue winning to have a shot at an at-large bid to the NCAA Division III National Championships. The Yellow Jackets (4-4, 2-4 ASC) are flying high after a 38-24 upset victory over Mississippi College that knocked the Choctaws into a tie for first place with UMHB. The Cru can also clinch a share of the ASC championship with two more victories.
