Jekyll Island, GA – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor women’s golf team fired a 352 team total, but the Cru women dropped three spots in the standings and UMHB sits in 11th place after two rounds of the Jekyll Island Invitational. The Cru women have a 341-352=693 team score and fell from a tie for eighth place after yesterday’s opening round. Methodist University has the overall lead with a 315-319=634 and the Monarchs are 19 strokes ahead of second place Illinois Wesleyan (324-329=653). Birmingham Southern is in third place with a 328-336=664, Seminole State is fourth with a 335-331=666 and Berry College rounds out the top five with a 333-337=670. Otterbein College holds down sixth place after shooting 340-334=674, Southwestern University moved into seventh place with a 341-334=675, Centre College is in eighth place after carding a 338-346=684 and Allegheny College (350-341) and Carleton College (349-342) are tied for ninth place with 691’s, two strokes ahead of the Cru. Rhodes College (360-336=696) is in 12th place, Mount Holyoke fired a 355-354=709 for 13th place, St. Benedict is 14th at 356-354=710 and Piedmont College claims 15th place at 356-359=715. Wisconsin-Whitewater is in 16th place after firing a 371-363=734, Huntingdon College (377-377) and Trinity University (372-382) are tied for 17th place with 754’s, Franklin and Marshall posted a 398-382=780 for 19th place, Maryville is in 20th place with a 402-396=798, Transylvania is 21st at 417-388=805, St. John Fisher holds down 22nd place with a 427-394=821 and Nebraska Wesleyan is in 23rd place with a 417-410=827. The tournament is being played on a par-72, 5,819-yad layout at Indian Mound Golf Course in Jekyll Island, Georgia.

Belton, TX – Today’s University of Mary Hardin-Baylor baseball game against McMurry University has been postponed due to the cold, wet conditions in Central Texas. The two teams will now close out their series with a 1:00 PM single game tomorrow at Red Murff Field.

The UMHB women fired a 341 team total and are tied with Southwestern University for eighth place, 26 strokes behind tournament leader Methodist University’s 315 team total. Illinois Wesleyan is in second place with a 324, Birmingham Southern posted a 328 for third place, Berry College is in fourth place with a 333 and Seminole State is fifth after carding a 335. Centre College shot 338 for sixth place and Otterbein College is seventh, one stroke ahead of UMHB with a 340 team total. Belton, TX – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor baseball team used a dominating pitching performance for a game one win and came within one strike of making it a sweep before McMurry rallied to salvage a doubleheader split with the Cru Friday afternoon in Belton. UMHB took game one 8-0 before falling 12-9 in 10 innings in game two. The Cru is now 10-11 overall and 2-3 in American Southwest Conference West Division play on the season. McMurry is 8-12 overall and 2-3 in the ASC West Division on the year.

La Verne, CA – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor softball team closed out its California trip with a doubleheader sweep at the hands of the University of La Verne Thursday afternoon in La Verne, California. UMHB fell 7-2 in game one before giving up three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning in a 5-4 game two loss. The Cru falls to 8-12 on the season with the two losses. The Leopards improve to 10-10 on the season with the two victories.

Claremont, CA – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor softball team dropped another heartbreaker when the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Athenas walked off with a game-winning hit in the bottom of the seventh inning to take a doubleheader sweep from the Cru Wednesday afternoon in Claremont. UMHB lost game one 5-3 before falling 6-5 in the second game. The Cru is now 8-10 overall this season and UMHB falls to 1-5 on its California trip with the two losses. CMS improves to 11-2 on the season with the two victories.
